Falling so far and so deep, you don’t know how you will ever return.
As if a huge weight were pushing you down, you physically can’t move.
Such pain in your heart. How could you ever feel anything other than this again.
Just a few ways that I could describe deep grief, from the infinite possibilities.
For me, the most immense of all human feelings. Immense in its power, its intensity, and its potential to elicit personal transformation. Because once truly felt, nothing could ever be the same again.
Modern society shies away from grief. We are encouraged to move on quickly, and continue as we left off. For me this is a denial of each of our birth rights. To be, and feel, truly human. As the deeper the valley, the higher the mountain. To experience true grief, we also may gift ourselves a way to experience true joy.
So within this immensity, where is the role of homeopathy, and potentially other therapeutic tools that work with expression, as opposed to suppression?
For me, the process of grieving a deep loss is messy, long, and unpredictable. So it’s easy to get stuck somewhere. Life takes over. The fear is too much. The support not enough. Depending on where you get stuck, this will lead to some element of suppression, very likely emotional challenges, and very possibly physical pathology.
So how not to? Anything that encourages true expression. Feeling it, saying it. Embracing the messy and the painful. Embracing the primitive need we have to be and feel truly human.
Homeopathy comes into its own here.
The homeopathic consultation is a safe, unjudgmental space (more on consultations). And the only role of homeopathic remedies is to move you into a healthier place (more on that).
It is never healthy to deny and push down. A skilled practitioner can match your remedy, potency and dose to what you need, to help guide you through your own unique process. Feeling the support of both the remedies, and the homeopath.
Most of my blogs have a lot of information on the remedies for certain symptoms. I’m not going to do this here. Although there are amazing, and common remedies around grief. I would never suggest you treat this for yourself.
Why?
Because grief appears to need a witness to begin to be healed. Much of it is processed alone, yes. But my experience is that by bringing it out of the shadows, and into the light, it transmutes into something different. You begin pushing through the solid rock (to use Francis Weller’s imagery). You can’t notice it at the time, but something incredible is happening. Just hang on in there.
And then there is the simple fact that we can’t see ourselves clearly (or often our loved ones either). We can’t step back from it all. Of course we can’t, we are intertwined within every part of our own stories. To see clearly what will help us heal, an element of objectivity is needed. Seeing the wood for the trees (see here for why I have a homeopath, that isn’t me).
I believe there is no way around grief. The only way is through. But, to start to go through, to penetrate the boundaries of something so massive, you have to feel safe. Supported. And have somewhere to go.
If you need any of this, get in touch.
What my patients say:
“I’ve been going through so many layers of sorrow and grief. Like rock strata, working through them one at a time.”
“Homeopathy have helped me through some of the toughest times in my life. It has led me to return to nature, and a spiritually awakening path.”
“You have taken my emotional and physical state, you have listened to me and my pain and you have treated me in such a profound way. My suffering has eased”
